hi friend

If you’ve ever felt like your days are full but your heart longs for more peace, more purpose, and more joy—you’re in the right place. I’m a wife and mom of five, learning to simplify life at home so that the things that truly matter have room to flourish.

Around here, we talk about homemaking rhythms, faith-filled motherhood, simple meals, and little shifts that make home feel lighter and life feel more joyful. Not because I have it all figured out (far from it!), but because I believe we don’t have to do this alone.

Think of this as your cozy corner of the internet—a place to exhale, grab some encouragement, and walk away with practical tools you can use right away. My hope is that when you leave here, you’ll feel inspired, equipped, and reminded that joy is possible in every season.

                           with joy,

Crafting Your Family Vision with Purpose and Joy

Lauren Alonso, Adam Alonso, there will be joy, podcast blog, grits grace and granola, christian blogger, mom blogger

Welcome to the official first episode of "There Will Be Joy!" Today, we're diving into the heart of living with intention and purpose—crafting a family vision. If you’ve ever felt like your family is drifting or if you’re yearning for more direction, this episode is for you.

Take a listen now:

I’ll never forget on my second date with Adam—kayaking on Lake Jocassee, dreaming about our future family adventures. From envisioning cross-country RV trips to exploring the great outdoors, those conversations shaped our hopes and dreams. Even though we’re not quite there yet, those early dreams guide us and keep us aligned with our long-term goals.

Why a Family Vision Matters:

  1. The Power of a Shared Vision: A family vision isn’t just an idea; it’s something you build together. It gives you a shared purpose and helps you stay grounded through life’s ups and downs. Think of it as your family’s roadmap, guiding you through choices and keeping you united.

  2. Building a Family Legacy: Crafting a family vision isn’t just about today—it’s about setting the stage for your family’s future. It helps your kids learn what matters and carry those values with them, creating a legacy lived out every day.

From the Ground Up:

  1. Start with Core Values: What are your family’s core values? These are the principles that shape your interactions and decisions. Think of them as the atmosphere you create at home.

  2. Daydream About the Future: Take time to imagine where you want your family to be in 5, 10, or even 20 years. What does that future look and feel like?

Action Steps:

  1. Ask the Big Questions: Grab a journal and reflect on questions like:

    • What kind of family do we want to be?

    • Where do we see ourselves physically, financially, and emotionally?

    • What adventures and hobbies do we want to share?

  2. Crafting Your Family Vision Statement: Gather your family for a brainstorming session. Share dreams, hopes, and values. Combine these into a simple, clear statement that reflects your shared goals.

Putting Your Vision into Practice:

  1. Put It Front and Center: Display your vision statement where everyone can see it. Make it a regular part of family conversations.

  2. Weave It into Your Day: Incorporate your vision into daily routines, like tech-free dinners or family game nights.

  3. Set Real Goals Together: Break your vision into achievable goals. Plan family adventures or weekly activities that align with your vision.

  4. Check In Regularly: Have family discussions to celebrate progress and adjust as needed. Keep your vision fresh and evolving.

Creating a family vision is a powerful way to build a joyful and purposeful life together. Take time this week to dream big and start crafting your vision. I’d love to hear what you come up with—share your vision statement with us in the Joyful Life Community!
